Volunteers

Your P&C needs you! All P&C initiatives are operated on a volunteer basis only. This includes our uniform shop, dollarmites banking and various fundraising events. A big thank you to all the parents who have already contributed their valuable time either ongoing or for the one off events. We greatly appreciate any and all contributions.

If you are interested in volunteering, or have any questions surrounding volunteering, please email us at info@mbpspandc.org.au or feel free to pop by the P&C Uniform Shop and have a chat with any one of us.

How you can help?

Uniform Shop

Our P&C is proud to be the sole providers of the Marie Bashir Public School Uniform. The Uniform shop is open on-site from 9 am to 10 am Wednesday mornings during term.

If you are able to help us out for approximately one hour, once a week, please come in and let us know.

No previous experience necessary, just a smile to welcome other parents and help them get their uniform needs.

Any profits go back to our school to hire additional teachers or provide additional resources.

School Banking

We take part in the popular and long-standing Commonwealth Bank Dollarmites School Banking program. The kids love it and it generates a modest profit for our P&C.

Banking is on Fridays from 9.30 am and takes approximately 1 hour. We would love to see you there.

Pop-in to the School Boardroom to help out.

Class Parent

We are looking for 1 to 2 parents per class to serve as a point of contact between class teachers and parents. This will require you to compile a parent class contact list (with parents written permission and a note will be distributed to you about this) and some other small tasks throughout the year. It’s a great way to get to know the other parents in your child’s class and contribute to the school community. We welcome anyone wishing to assist so please let us know if you’d like to be involved.

Grant Writing

Our small, but dedicated team of parents who are searching and applying for grants. These have included:

  • Crown Foundation & Packer Family Foundations Art Grant
  • Club Burwood Music Grant
  • Canada Bay Club Lego Grant
  • Solar My School

Book Covering

It may not sound fun, but it is a great chance to meet and talk to other parents at our school, plus it protects the assets our P&C have worked so hard to provide for our children and our school.

Mother’s Day Stall

Just before Mother’s Day every year we need a few Dads and Grandads to help run our Mother’s Day Stall, to ensure Mum, Nan, Auntie, and those other important ladies in our lives are well looked after on their special day.

Father’s Day Stall

Just before Father’s Day every year we need a few Mums and Nans to help run our Father’s Day Stall, to ensure Dad, Pop, Grandad, Uncle, and those other important gentlemen in our lives are well looked after on their special day.

Tea and Tissues

On the first day of Kindergarten we run a morning tea for all those parents sending children off to their first day of “Big School”. We welcome other MBPS parents to come along to meet and chat with the new families joining our MBPS community.

Easter Raffle

Every year we ask families if they can donate chocolates for our Easter Raffle, distribute and sell raffle tickets.
